July 2nd, World Sports Journalists’ Day, was celebrated in Kabul.

 World Sports Journalists’ Day was celebrated by the Afghanistan National Olympic Committee.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Hafizullah Wali Rahimi, General Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports and elected president of the National Olympic Committee of Afghanistan, Leadership Board of Olympic, officials of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, sports’ journalists, photographers, and writers and participating sports journalists were appreciated,
 Dr. Hafizullah Wali Rahimi congratulated the Sports Journalist Day and appreciated Afghan sports journalists’ efforts and services in the growth of sports and the coverage of sports events.
Pointing to the significance of sports in society, Mr. Rahimi also stated the importance of sports journalists in the Afghan media and asked sports media and journalists in promoting sports programs.
 Friedullah Mohammadi and Nematullah Rahimi, two successful Afghan journalists, on behalf of all sports journalists expressed their appreciation for the recent achievements and good relation of sports organizations with the Afghan Sports media and called such appreciation ceremony of sports journalists an important step in progress and motivation for the journalists.  They also requested for media training workshops in the sports sector.
 July 2nd, World Sports Journalists’ Day is celebrated every year in Afghanistan and around the world with various programs.
